ITANAGAR, 11 Oct: The 1 Arunachal Pradesh Battalion NCC, under the aegis of the NCC group headquarters (Bravo), Tezpur, is conducting NER Trek-1 for senior and junior division NCC boy cadets.

The NER Trek-1 camp will run for a duration of eight days from 10 to 17 October with MTGHSS Itanagar serving as the camp location. As many as 550 NCC cadets from five different directorates - NER, West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar & Jharkhand, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh - are participating in the camp.

The first day of the camp was reserved for arrival and accommodation of cadets. The camp officially commenced on 11 October with the opening address given by the 1 AP Bn NCC commanding officer, who motivated the cadets and emphasised the importance of a sound body for a sound mind. He also highlighted how physical activities such as trekking helps build resilience, develop physical and mental endurance and moulds cadets to face the challenges of life with greater confidence and adaptability.

The training schedule has been meticulously planned out for the maximum benefit of the cadets, including a myriad of activities designed not only to challenge cadets physically and mentally but also to foster teamwork, discipline and national integration. The schedule includes introductory lectures on safety and first aid, tribes and traditions of Arunachal, and demonstrations on knots, lashes and hitches.

In the next few days, the cadets will undertake treks to Chimi village and Poma hills, interspersed with a 'survival day' to introduce the cadets to the culture and cuisine of the local people. The camp schedule will also feature an 'Itanagar Darshan' day and a 'fun day'. Group activities, games and athletics, treasure hunts, quizzes and cultural activities have also been planned.
