PASIGHAT, 1 Oct: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bosiram Siram raised issues concerning Arunachal Pradesh, including border infrastructure, the proposed Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP) and voter lists, while addressing a district-level coordination meeting of the Congress party here in East Siang district on Thursday.

Raising concerns over the border areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Siram alleged that the realities of the reported Chinese incursion in Taksing in Upper Subansiri district were being concealed. He said security personnel deployed along the India-China border were facing difficulties due to inadequate road and mobile network connectivity.

On the prevailing situation in Siang and Upper Siang districts, the APCC president criticised the role of East Arunachal MP Tapir Gao, Minister Ojing Tasing and MLAs Alo Libang and Oni Panyang over the proposed 11,000 MW Siang Upper Multipurpose Project.

Siram said elected representatives should raise the concerns of local people before the state and central governments rather than suppress their sentiments regarding the proposed hydropower project. He also demanded that the centre scrap the project.

Further, Siram alleged that the BJP governments at the centre and in the state were working in favour of corporates and using independent institutions and investigating agencies for their own interests.

He also alleged that the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls had resulted in the deletion of names of around 14 crore genuine Indian citizens, thereby curtailing their fundamental rights.

The APCC president also reviewed party activities in East Siang, Lower Siang, Upper Siang and Shi-Yomi districts and urged party workers to maintain coordination with grassroots-level workers.

He emphasised the formation of booth committees covering all blocks and sub-blocks to strengthen the party's activities at the grassroots level.

APCC general secretary and East Siang district in-charge Daniel Gao, DCC president Tamat Saroh, APCC secretaries Alen Perme and Adv. Otem Perme, District Mahila Congress president Rogye Yosung, and newly joined Congress workers Oyar Tabing, Tagong Sitang and Takeng Semior also addressed the meeting.
