ITANAGAR, 23 Aug: The Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) bade farewell to its member Dr MQ Khan, who retired as principal of Dera Natung Government College (DNGC) on superannuation on 31 July.

The farewell ceremony was held during the literary society's 154th monthly sitting, chaired by APLS president Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi.

In his farewell address, Dr Khan reflected on his academic career as a college teacher of English literature, and spoke of his contribution to developing the infrastructure of DNGC.

He urged the state's younger generation to follow the path shown by their teachers, saying it is through that path alone that one can truly shine in life.

Members present, many of them Dr Khan's former students, recalled how he had inspired and motivated them towards success in their lives.

Among the senior members who spoke on the occasion were Nani Kojin, Sokhep Kri, Inumoni Das Thongchi, and Nomi Mega Gumro.

Praising Dr Khan's contribution to the development of literature in Arunachal, Thongchi said that Dr Khan possesses profound and vast knowledge of literature, and that both he and the state's young, budding writers benefited immensely from him.

APLS general secretary Mukul Pathak said that, "while APLS may have bid farewell to Dr Khan, he will remain a member of the society forever, wherever he may live."

During the monthly sitting, Takhe Yasa, Nomi Mega Gumro, and Tarh Susana read out their poems, while Sokhep Kri enthralled everyone present with melodious ghazals and old Hindi songs.
