PASIGHAT, 24 May: The East Siang district unit of the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) organised an open mic event titled ‘Shaam-e-Mehfil’ by the bank of the Siang River at Duman on Sunday.
Despite inclement weather, participants turned up in large numbers, braving the rain to be a part of the vibrant literary and cultural evening.
The compère of the evening, Zeblun Messar, captivated the audience with his witty quotes and shayaris, adding charm and humour to the programme. The event’s organiser, Otul Jerang, recited a humorous Hindi poem, and extended gratitude to everyone who attended and performed at the event, on behalf of APLS East Siang.
Jerang also expressed gratitude to the president and the general secretary of the APLS, Itanagar, for their logistical support and encouragement.
The evening featured an engaging blend of songs, poetry recitations and music performances, which were thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. Shayaris were presented by prominent APLS members Manjulata and Martin Mibang, while soulful songs, Sufi renditions and ghazals were performed by Kamin Tamuk, Enbom Ering and Kenzing Dai, earning appreciation from the attendees.
Apart from senior literary enthusiasts such as Kaling Borang and Obat Boko, several other participants, including Noosi Moomne Perme, Moge Lendo, Kadominam Kopak, Angelina Aseng Dai and Beauty Kena also recited poems in English, Hindi and Adi, much to the delight of the audience.
All the performers were felicitated by APLS president Ponung Ering Angu on behalf of APLS East Siang, in recognition of their participation and contribution to the successful conduct of the event. (DIPRO)
