ZIRO, 1 Oct: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR), in collaboration with the Lower Subansiri district administration and the department of women and child development (WCD), organised a comprehensive child rights awareness programme at Mihin Bagang Government Secondary School, Hapoli, on Thursday.

The programme was part of the state's broader "28-District Child Rights Outreach, Awareness and Child Welfare Assessment Campaign," conducted under the banner "Know Your Rights - Protect Every Child."

Deputy commissioner Oli Perme, SP Techi Hanyir and APSCPCR members Niri Chongruju and Taba Champa Riba, in their addresses, emphasised that safeguarding childhood requires a collective, multi-agency effort at every level of the community.

During the technical session, APSCPCR members spoke on fundamental legal protections, including the Juvenile Justice Act, the POCSO Act, the Right to Education and school safety guidelines. They also provided guidance on managing mental health, emotional well-being and resisting substance abuse.

Addressing modern digital challenges, the officer-in-charge of the women police station shared essential tips on online safety, social media misuse, cyber bullying and gaming addiction.

ICDS deputy director-cum-district child protection officer Kago Maya Gyati and district labour and employment officer N. Pugang also spoke.

During the interactive session, students and community members shared their experiences, asked questions and raised local concerns directly with district officials. (DIPRO)
