ITANAGAR, 22 Sep: Arunachal Pradesh will host the 35th Senior National Wushu Championship in December.

The championship will be organised by the All Arunachal Pradesh Wushu Association (AAPWA), in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at Chimpu near here from 9 to 15 December.

Terming it a historic milestone in the sporting journey of the state, AAPWA general secretary John Tara Bakey said that the championship is not only a major achievement for the state's wushu fraternity but also marks a proud new chapter in Arunachal's emergence as a national sporting destination.

He said the championship assumes even greater significance as Arunachal is preparing for participation in the 39th National Games to be held in Meghalaya next year.

The AAPWA expressed hope that the championship would provide a platform for high-level national competition, athlete preparation and performance assessment, advanced coaching and technical development, exposure of emerging wushu talent, and building overall readiness for the National Games.

The association stated that wushu has consistently made a significant contribution to Arunachal's National Games performance, reflecting the dedication of the state's athletes, coaches, technical officials, associations and supporting institutions.

The AAPWA said that sustained preparation, professional coaching, systematic athlete development and continued institutional support can create further opportunities for the state's wushu athletes to excel at the National Games and on the national and international stage.

A 15-member organising committee for the upcoming event has been constituted with Tach Tadar as its chief adviser, Tai Kaya as organising chairman, John Tara Bakey as organising secretary, and M Prem Chandra as technical director.
