ITANAGAR, 15 Sep: The Save Taksing Save Arunachal Movement Committee [STSAMC] has termed the governor's official denial of Chinese PLA intrusion in the Taksing region "unfortunate," "condemnable" and "unacceptable," saying that various organisations, student bodies, political parties and local media have visited the spots and confirmed intrusions.
Questioning how the highest constitutional guardian of the state could issue such a denial when the ground reality is completely different, the committee in a press statement said that the Nah and Mra clans and the Tagin Cultural Society had visited Taksing, physically verified the situation and submitted written reports to the DC, the CM and the governor himself.
It further stated that all major political parties, including the NPP, Congress, PPA, and reputed local news channels have visited the spots and confirmed intrusions and constructions at Oying, Paniar, Morpan, Portang, Tinlingtang, CP-6, CP-5, Langju and Old Maja.
Student bodies like the AAPSU and ATSU have also confirmed the intrusions after physically assessing the situation in the Taksing sector, the STSAMC said.
"If the governor still denies it, is he trying to say that the entire civil society, political parties and media are lying?" it questioned.
The committee said that the state needs a governor with courage to speak the truth and defend the state from external aggression.
"A weak and misleading statement from the Lok Bhavan demoralises our border villagers and our security forces," the committee said. It further stated that "if the present governor cannot stand for the truth and defend the territorial integrity of Arunachal Pradesh, he has no moral right to continue [in office] and should immediately leave Arunachal and make way for a strong and people-centric governor."
"Arunachal is not for sale. Arunachal will not bow to China," the committee added.
