YUPIA, 26 Aug: Government employees, GBs, PRI leaders and the common people were sensitized on laws protecting women from domestic violence and sexual harassment at workplace during an awareness camp organized by the Papum Pare district administration in collaboration with the department of women & child development here on Wednesday.

Attending the programme, Kakoi CO Rongni Bagang urged the authorities of government offices, PSUs and private establishments to take necessary action at the earliest to constitute internal committees as mandated under the POSH Act.

He urged the participants to make the best use of the programme to understand the provisions of the relevant laws and to disseminate the knowledge to friends and family members.

District ICDS Cell deputy director Jaya Taba highlighted the continuous efforts being undertaken by the WCD department to create awareness among the public regarding various laws and Acts relating to the protection and welfare of women and children.

She stressed the importance of understanding the provisions of such laws and sharing the information with others to promote a safer and more equitable society.

During the technical sessions, Juvenile Justice Board member advocate Likha Asha Nyekam spoke on the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, while CDPO Tana Chammaro explained the provisions of the POSH Act, 2013. (DIPRO)
