TAWANG, 8 Jul: Tawang deputy commissioner Namgyal Angmo emphasized the importance of equipping students with future-ready skills.

Addressing the concluding day of the K-10 Future Skills Lab teacher training programme at Government Secondary School, Jemeithang, on Tuesday, the DC encouraged teachers to integrate artificial intelligence, robotics, coding, astronomy, and activity-based pedagogy into their regular classroom practices to make learning more engaging, innovative, and relevant for the 21st century.

Lungla ADC Tashi Dhondup and DDSE Hridar Phuntsok also encouraged the teachers to effectively utilize the state-of-the-art facilities provided under the programme and to inspire students to develop creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and scientific inquiry.

The capacity building programme was designed to equip educators with practical skills in emerging technologies and activity-based learning methodologies, enabling them to effectively integrate innovation into classroom teaching.

A comprehensive review of the concepts covered during the previous two days was conducted on the final day to consolidate teachers’ understanding of programming, artificial intelligence, robotics, and hands-on learning activities.

Participants were then given practical training on the Hand Pose Classifier in PictoBlox and explored its integration with the Quarky robotics controller by developing gesture-controlled robotics projects.

The programme also featured detailed sessions on the science and mathematics kits, where teachers participated in hands-on experiments aimed at strengthening concept-based and experiential learning.

In addition, the teachers were introduced to the astronomy zone, its learning resources, educational applications, and practical demonstrations designed to promote curiosity and scientific temperament among students.

Nine teachers from schools in Jemeithang cluster attended the 3-day capacity-building programme, which was conducted by resource persons from Stempedia.

The DC later inspected the ongoing civil work projects of education department in the Jemeithang area and also visited Government Upper Primary School, Gispu to inspect the ongoing construction works of the academic block and teacher’s quarters. (DIPRO)
