DAMBUK, 7 Aug: A devastating fire broke out at the residence of former minister and MLA Roding Pertin here in Lower Dibang Valley district late on the night of 6 August, completely destroying the house and a vehicle parked on the premises.

Lower Dibang Valley Superintendent of Police Ringu Ngupok informed that, according to information received at around 11:35 pm on Thursday from a resident of Dambuk, the SPT-type building, including the kitchen, was engulfed in flames.

The officer-in-charge of the Roing fire station was immediately directed to respond to the emergency, SP Ngupak added.

As Dambuk does not have a dedicated fire station and is located approximately 35 km from Roing, the fire service team rushed to the spot and worked till 3 am to bring the blaze under control, he said.

"While the fire was successfully prevented from spreading to adjoining areas, the entire structure was reduced to ashes. No belongings could be salvaged," the SP added.

He further informed that an Innova car parked in the car porch was also completely burnt.

"There was no loss of life or injury reported in the incident.

"Preliminary information indicates that the fire was caused by a short circuit. Further investigation into the exact cause is underway," he said.
