TAWANG, 9 Jun: In a significant step towards strengthening rural entrepreneurship and promoting women-led enterprises, a camp on FSSAI and UDYAM registration was conducted here on Tuesday.
Forty attendees, including members of women self-help groups (SHGs), mothers’ kitchens, and local women entrepreneurs participated in the event, which was organised by the Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU) of the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), Tawang.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Tsewang Dorjee from the BMMU emphasised the importance of formal registration in enhancing business credibility, market access, and growth opportunities.
Encouraging women entrepreneurs to remain committed to their ventures, he highlighted various government initiatives aimed at creating ‘lakhpati didis’, and shared the government’s vision for every producer group to achieve an annual turnover exceeding Rs 10 lakh.
He also informed the participants that SHG products would soon be showcased at the Hollongi airport, creating valuable market exposure. He stressed that obtaining both FSSAI and UDYAM registrations is mandatory for participation.
The camp featured an informative session by Deputy Director of Industries Tsering Drema, who elaborated the registration process, eligibility criteria, and benefits available under the PMFME scheme and UDYAM registration. She cautioned participants against fraudulent websites that seek sensitive personal information, and clarified that UDYAM registration is completely free when completed through the official government portal.
Drema explained the various benefits available to registered SHGs, including access to government support schemes and eligibility to participate in procurement and tendering opportunities through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM).
Tawang Food Safety Officer Dr Kesang Yeshi Tukshipa conducted a detailed session on FSSAI registration, food safety compliance requirements, and the advantages available to registered food business operators.
An interactive session enabled participants to engage directly with resource persons and resolve their queries regarding registration procedures and business development opportunities.
A major highlight of the event was the on-the-spot registration of several enterprises under both FSSAI and UDYAM, marking an important milestone towards formalisation, enhanced market access, and sustainable business growth. (DIPRO)
