ITANAGAR, 13 Oct: Governor K.T Parnaik stressed the need to expand NCC's reach by establishing more units in schools and colleges, especially in remote and border areas to provide the rural and tribal youth with greater opportunities for personal development and leadership.
Sharing his thoughts on the NCC's role in youth development during a meeting with Brig. Mayank Vaid, NCC Group Commander, Tezpur, Assam at Lok Bhavan on Tuesday, the governor said that the organization must continue to instill discipline, leadership, patriotism, unity and a spirit of service.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen and expand NCC activities across the state.
The governor also stressed the need to strengthen NCC training infrastructure, provide adequate equipment and qualified instructors, and organize regular camps.
"Integrating physical fitness, personality development and career guidance into NCC programmes would help cadets prepare for the Armed Forces, Agniveer opportunities and other public services," he said. The governor said that training provided by NCC must help young people build confidence, develop character and become responsible citizens committed to society and nation-building. The governor emphasized the need to encourage more students to enroll and benefit from NCC activities.
Parnaik also stressed the need to promote adventure activities, trekking, mountaineering, disaster management, environmental conservation and national integration programmes, in coordination with the Indian Army and other security forces.
He commended NCC headquarters, Tezpur, for successfully conducting activities in Arunachal Pradesh.
The governor expressed confidence that expanding the NCC network would empower the state's youth and nurture disciplined, capable and patriotic citizens. (Lok Bhavan)
