ITANAGAR, 30 Jun: Governor KT Parnaik emphasised the need for a ‘whole of the state’approach to effectively deal with the challenges posed by natural calamities in Arunachal Pradesh.

Expressing concern over the impact of floods on lives, livelihoods, and infrastructure during a meeting with Chief Minister Pema Khandu at the Lok Bhavan here on Tuesday, the governor called for coordinated efforts among government departments, district administrations, community organisations, and citizens to strengthen disaster response and resilience.

During the meeting, the chief minister briefed the governor on the prevailing flood situation in different parts of the state, and the measures being taken by the government to provide relief and ensure the safety of the affected people.

The governor commended the dedicated services of the State Disaster Response Force, district administrations, the Public Works, Civil Aviation and Disaster Management Departments, the Indian Red Cross Society, volunteers, and local residents for their tireless efforts in relief, rescue, and rehabilitation operations.

Parnaik shared his observations from recent review meetings held at the Lok Bhavan on important issues concerning the state, including the State Finances Audit Report, measures for ensuring the safety and protection of women and children, and ongoing cleanliness and sanitation initiatives being undertaken by the Itanagar Municipal Corporation.

The governor also expressed concern over the unruly incident at the NERIST.

The chief minister apprised the governor of the ongoing activities undertaken by various state departments, highlighting efforts aimed at improving governance, accelerating development, and enhancing public welfare across the state. (Lok Bhavan)
