Har Ghar Tiranga campaign
ITANAGAR, 11 Aug: As part of the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, Governor KT Parnaik presented national flags to officials and staff from various departments attached to Lok Bhavan on Tuesday.
The programme, an initiative of the governor, was organised to inspire greater participation in the celebration of India's 80th Independence Day, and to reinforce the values that the tricolour represents.
Handing over the tiranga, the governor urged every official to become an ambassador of patriotism within their families and communities. "As you take home the tiranga today, carry with it the spirit of national unity, civic responsibility and pride in our great nation. Let every home display the flag and every heart uphold the ideals for which it stands," he said.
The governor emphasised that the national flag is far more than a symbol; it reflects the courage, sacrifice and unwavering determination of countless freedom fighters who secured India's independence.
He encouraged families to proudly hoist the tiranga and use the occasion to educate children and youths about its history, significance and the enduring values of unity, integrity and service to the nation.
He also reminded citizens to display the flag with dignity and in accordance with the Flag Code of India. "The flag should always occupy a position of honour and never be allowed to touch the ground, be misused as decoration or displayed in a damaged condition," he said.
Stressing on responsible stewardship among the Lok Bhavan officials, the governor advised that after the celebrations, the national flag should be carefully folded, preserved respectfully and, if unserviceable, disposed of in a dignified manner consistent with the Flag Code.
Meanwhile, the Itanagar unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad organised a 'tiranga yatra' on Tuesday to mark the 150 years of Vande Mataram.
The yatra was attended by Home Minister Mama Natung, IMC Mayor Likha Nari Tadar, and Youth Affairs Department Director Ramesh Linggi, among others.
In Ziro in Lower Subansiri district, a tiranga yatra was organised with patriotic fervour with citizens, officials from the local administration, and community leaders gathering at Padi Yubbe Stadium.
DC Oli Perme and SP Keni Bagra addressed the gathering on the significance of national unity, the sacrifices of the nation's heroes, and collective responsibility toward the growth and development of the district and the country.
Thereafter, MLA Hage Appa and DC Perme jointly flagged off the tiranga yatra.
The procession passed through the heart of the town and culminated at Padi Yubbe Outdoor Stadium.
In Lower Siang district, a grand bike ride was organised in Likabali on Tuesday as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
The rally, organised by the police, in collaboration with the district administration and the Art & Culture Department, aimed to promote patriotism, national pride and the spirit of unity among citizens, particularly the youths.
The ride was flagged off from the Likabali police station by ITBP Sector DIG Naresh Shaukand and Likabali ADC Mokar Riba, in the presence of heads of departments, representatives of various organisations, personnel of the ITBP, Arunachal Pradesh Police, GREF, AAPWW Lower Siang unit, and members of the public.
Around 450 participants took part in the rally, which covered an approximately 4.5-km route through Likabali.
Shaukand encouraged the youths to actively contribute towards nation-building and uphold the values of patriotism, unity and responsibility.
The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation of members of the ITBP, Arunachal Pradesh Police, GREF, youth groups and various organisations. (Lok Bhavan, with inputs from DIPROs)
