DAPORIJO, 8 Jun: Road communication to Giba circle in Upper Subansiri district has been cut off by multiple landslides triggered by heavy rainfall over the past several days, affecting more than 5,000 residents in 20 villages.

The PMGSY road connecting Pute and Luchi-Lute villages has been washed away, causing serious transportation challenges for villagers, particularly in accessing medical facilities during emergencies, and disrupting the supply of ration and other essential commodities.

Several stretches of the road are reported to be in a vulnerable condition and may collapse at any time if the rain continues.

The affected villagers have urged the state government and the department concerned to initiate immediate restoration work to prevent further hardships and ensure uninterrupted access to essential services.

They urged Giba ZPM Mayum Dobin to take up the matter with higher authorities and ensure immediate restoration of road connectivity.

Meanwhile, the ZPM said that the issue has already been brought to the notice of the higher authorities. He expressed hope that prompt measures would be taken to restore road connectivity and provide relief to the affected villagers.
