ITANAGAR, 19 Jul: Kentu Lap won a bronze medal at the Asian Cadets & Junior Judo Championships held in Amman, Jordan from 16 to 19 July.
Competing in the U-60 kg category, Lap delivered an outstanding performance throughout the tournament and clinched the medal after defeating I Shamsov of Tajikistan in the bronze medal contest, the Arunachal Judo Association (AJA) said.
With this, Lap has become the first judoka from Arunachal to win a medal in the Asian Cadets & Junior Judo Championships, the association said.
The AJA congratulated Lap and acknowledged his coaches, family, and support staff for their relentless efforts behind the achievement.
Officials of the association stated that Lap’s achievement would inspire many aspiring judokas to compete confidently on the international stage.
“Lap’s historic bronze medal is expected to become a defining moment in the growth of judo in Arunachal Pradesh and a source of inspiration for future generations of athletes,” the association added.
