RUKSIN, 28 Aug: The Ledum Yameng Bane Kebang (LYBK), led by its president Onong Dupak and secretary Tayem Taloh, met Arunachal East MP Tapir Gao at his residence here in East Siang district on Friday to highlight the long-pending issue of poor and unreliable BSNL mobile network services in Ledum village.

During the meeting, the LYBK delegation apprised the MP of the difficulties faced by the people of Ledum due to the non-functional and highly unstable BSNL network. The members stated that reliable mobile connectivity has become essential for communication, education, healthcare, business, emergency services, and other day-to-day activities.

The delegation pointed out that Ledum is one of the major villages under the Pasighat West Assembly constituency, yet it continues to suffer from extremely poor mobile connectivity. They expressed concern that several villages located in comparatively remote areas have better network facilities than Ledum, despite the village being relatively accessible.

According to the LYBK, a BSNL mobile tower was installed in Ledum around 15 years ago, but the service has remained largely unsatisfactory. The network frequently becomes unavailable, while calls often get disconnected within a few seconds even when the service is available.

The delegation said the unreliable network has caused considerable inconvenience to residents, particularly students, youths, senior citizens, government employees and those requiring urgent communication.

The LYBK further informed the MP that the issue has been raised and complaints submitted to the authorities concerned on several occasions. However, despite repeated representations, no concrete and lasting measures have been taken to improve connectivity in the village, leading to growing frustration among residents.

The organisation also highlighted the need to strengthen digital and communication infrastructure in Ledum. Due to the lack of reliable network services, residents face difficulties in accessing online services, making emergency calls, attending online classes, conducting digital transactions and maintaining regular contact with family members and relatives.

The LYBK urged the MP to take up the matter with the authorities concerned and ensure that the existing BSNL infrastructure is repaired, upgraded and made fully functional. The organisation also demanded installation of mobile towers of other service providers, including Airtel and Jio, to provide residents with reliable and competitive connectivity.

The members emphasised that the people of Ledum should not continue to remain deprived of dependable communication facilities when mobile connectivity has become an indispensable part of modern life. They appealed to the MP to personally intervene and ensure that the longstanding grievance is addressed at the earliest.

After hearing the grievances of the LYBK delegation, Gao assured the team that he would take appropriate steps and raise the matter with the authorities concerned for the convenience and benefit of the people of Ledum.

The LYBK expressed hope that the MP's intervention would result in concrete action, and that the long-pending mobile network problem in Ledum would finally be resolved.
