DAPORIJO, 5 Aug:  Fresh allegations of Chinese incursions in Taksing circle of Upper Subansiri district have surfaced, with locals claiming that Chinese forces intruded into Pukar La and Ollo.

According to the claims, Chinese forces reportedly crossed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and entered Indian territory at Pukar La and Ollo in Taksing circle. While the district administration and the security establishment have remained tight-lipped about the alleged incursions, locals have taken to social media, claiming that such incursions are indeed taking place.

Meanwhile, Nah Welfare Society (NWS) chairman Keru Chader, while speaking to this daily, claimed that the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is closing in on villages in the area.

“Pukar La is located near Yaja village, while Togo village is near Ollo. The PLA is now literally at our doorstep,” said Chader. He claimed that the PLA entered these two areas within the last one month.

Earlier, in June this year, the Nah Welfare Society (NWS) made a similar claim, alleging that the Chinese PLA was encroaching on Indian territory near Taksing in Upper Subansiri district.

In a letter addressed to the deputy commissioner of the district, the NWS alleged that the PLA was expanding its presence by occupying new and strategically important areas of Indian territory along the border. The society further claimed that areas such as Oying (2445) in the Asaphila area, Paniar (Chujarta area), Marpan (Marnafe), Portrang (Lake), and Tingdingtang (TG) – all located close to Taksing – had been captured by the PLA, where it had established a military camp.

The society also claimed that some of these areas had been under Indian control before 2020.

However, the Indian army dismissed the allegations. The NWS, however, has continued to make such claims, maintaining that the government is not telling the truth.
