TEZU, 20 May: The 19th Foundation Day of the Lohit Youth Libraries was celebrated at Bamboosa Library in Lohit district on Tuesday.
Addressing the participants at the celebration, SE Radhe Raja said that reading books is far better than using social media for acquiring knowledge. He further said that successful leaders such as Bill Gates, A. P. J. Abdul Kalam and Elon Musk are great readers.
He exhorted book readers and library volunteers to motivate their friends to visit the library regularly and promote the habit of reading.
Speaking on the importance of using water judiciously, the SE sought everyone’s cooperation for better water conservation.
Raja also released the new 2026-27 calendar of the Library Network and presented copies to award-winning library volunteers.
Speaking on the 19 years of growth of the Lohit Youth Library Movement, senior volunteer Banika Kri recalled the generous patronage of book lovers, which helped the library movement open new paths for many volunteers to grow personally and professionally.
Senior volunteer Bethem Marai introduced the Forum of Library Activists as the driving force of the youth library movement and highlighted its efforts to popularise mother-tongue literature among the common people.
