GUWAHATI, 1 Aug: The Manipur International University (MIU) conferred the ‘Professor of Practice’ title on Adi Ba:né Kébang Youth Wing (ABKYW) president Oki Dai in recognition of his contribution to social service and community development.

The title was presented to him by Assam’s Transformation and Development Minister Rameshwar Teli, along with MLA Himangshu Shekhar Baishya, during a function held in Guwahati, Assam, on 30 July.

The ‘Professor of Practice’ is an honorary distinction awarded to individuals who demonstrate exceptional professional expertise and make significant contributions to society through practical knowledge, leadership, and community service.

Universities often confer the title to accomplished personalities from diverse fields, such as public service, industry, social work, arts, sports, and governance.

The recognition acknowledges Dai’s sustained efforts towards the welfare of the Adi community and his leadership in carrying out various social initiatives through the ABKYW.

Under his leadership, the organisation has actively participated in disaster relief, environmental awareness campaigns, youth empowerment programmes, community welfare activities, and initiatives aimed at preserving the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the Adi tribe.

Dai dedicated the award to the people of Arunachal Pradesh, particularly the Adi community. He said the recognition would motivate him and the ABKYW to work with greater commitment for the welfare of the society and encourage young people to take an active role in community development.
