BOMDILA/SHILLONG, 18 Jun: A delegation from the North East India Tourism Confederation (NEITC) participated in the two-day North East India Infrastructure Summit & Exhibition 2026, which concluded on Tuesday in Shillong, Meghalaya.
Organised by the Federation of Industry & Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER) and co-organised by the Build India Foundation, the NEITC delegation was led by its president Tsering Wange and included secretary-general Yangchen T Lepcha, adviser EB Blah, and executive member Tapan Gab.
The summit brought together policymakers, industry leaders, investors, and stakeholders to deliberate on infrastructure development and economic growth opportunities across the Northeastern region.
During the two-day event, the NEITC delegation participated in the CEO roundtable chaired by Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, in the presence of Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister S Dhar, Chief Secretary Dr Shakil P Ahammed, FINER president Bajrang Lohia, senior government officials, and a host of industry leaders from across the country.
Wange presented the NEITC’s vision and initiatives aimed at strengthening tourism infrastructure, promoting sustainable and responsible tourism, and fostering regional cooperation.
Recognising the NEITC’s role, the union minister invited the confederation’s leadership to New Delhi for strategic discussions on policy support, infrastructure development, partnerships, and investment opportunities to accelerate tourism-led growth in the Northeast.
Expressing gratitude, Wange reaffirmed the NEITC’s commitment to working closely with the Government of India, state governments, and stakeholders to unlock the immense tourism potential of the region. He said that the NEITC remains dedicated to positioning the Northeast as a globally recognised destination for culture, nature, adventure, heritage, and community-based tourism.
The summit also brought together experts, development agencies, and policymakers to promote growth and contribute to the overall development and welfare of the Northeast region.
