DOIMUKH, 29 Aug: A 'Red Run' 5-km mini marathon was organised on Saturday by the Red Ribbon Club and the NSS unit of Government College Doimukh, in association with the APSACS, with the theme 'Youth for HIV and STI', to actively involve and engage members of the Red Ribbon Clubs/college students in disseminating information related to HIV/AIDS, STI, adolescent health, and mental health.

Red Ribbon Club coordinator Dr Eva Dupak underscored the importance of educating, testing and empowering youths to prevent HIV and STI by highlighting the transmission of HIV, STI, signs and symptoms, treatment and prevention. She emphasised the crucial role of youths in disseminating accurate information, challenging misconceptions and promoting a more informed and compassionate attitude towards people living with HIV/AIDS while drawing attention to the social stigma associated with HIV/AIDS.

The prevailing HIV cases in Arunachal Pradesh were highlighted, with Papum Pare district topping the chart with the highest number of positive cases.

The winner in the male category was Tadar Kaya (BA first semester, history department) and the winner in the female category was Sita Gama (BA fifth semester, geography department).

The winners were awarded certificates and cash prizes.
