RONO HILLS, 8 Jun: As part of the nationwide countdown to the 12th International Day of Yoga, Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) here organised a yoga quiz competition under the guidance of its Vice-Chancellor (i/c) Prof SK Nayak.

The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting awareness about yoga, health, hygiene, mental wellbeing, and holistic living among the university community.

The competition witnessed participation of students, research scholars, teaching staff, and non-teaching staff. A total of five teams participated in the event, demonstrating their knowledge and understanding of various aspects of yoga and wellness. The quiz covered a wide range of topics, including yoga asanas, pranayama, yoga postures, the history and philosophy of yoga, and general awareness related to health and wellness.

After a closely contested competition, Team-I,comprising Kalpana Sarkar and Tulika Lahon secured the first position. Team-II, consisting of Mamata Sonowal and Monisha Ado secured the second position, while Team-III, represented by Olik Darang and Kali Boje secured the third position.

The winners will be felicitated with certificates and prizes during the celebration of the International Day of Yoga on 21 June.

The event was conducted with Rikpu Kamcham and Mumni Tayeng serving as scorers. Education Department Assistant Professor Dr Sushant Kumar Nayak conducted the programme as the quiz master, while Physical Education Assistant Director Dr A Yuvaraj coordinated the overall event.
