ITANAGAR, 7 Sep: A section of the tribal community of Arunachal Pradesh, led by the Galo Lune Bane Keba (GLBK), commemorated the constitutional recognition of the Scheduled Tribes (STs) on 6 September in Leparada district.
The commemoration was held to remember and acknowledge the constitutional recognition and safeguards provided to tribal communities under the Constitution of India.
Speaking on the occasion, GLBK president Tumge Loya expressed gratitude to the members of the Constituent Assembly, led by Dr BR Ambedkar, for incorporating provisions for tribal communities into the constitutional framework and providing them with special constitutional protections.
The participants said that these constitutional safeguards have played an important role in protecting the rights, identity, culture and interests of tribal communities, while also contributing significantly to their social, economic and political progress.
The GLBK members observed that the progress achieved by tribal communities today would not have been possible without the constitutional provisions and protections extended to them. They paid tribute to the vision of the framers of the Constitution, and reaffirmed their commitment to preserving their identity, traditions, culture and constitutional rights.
The gathering also served as an occasion to express gratitude for the constitutional safeguards that have enabled tribal communities to advance while retaining their distinct identity and heritage.
