PASIGHAT, 26 Aug: East Siang deputy commissioner Sonalika Jiwani has instructed executing agencies to take appropriate action against contractors who consistently underperform or fail to complete assigned works within the stipulated time, including termination of contracts as per applicable rules and procedures. The DC gave the instruction during the monthly DDR-cum-District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) meeting held at the DC's conference hall here in East Siang district on Wednesday.

The DC also directed the concerned authorities to expedite the handing-over and taking-over process of administrative areas affected by the creation of Lower Siang district, so that administrative jurisdictions and responsibilities are clearly established.

She further directed all executing agencies to ensure timely coordination with the power department upon completion of government buildings and infrastructure for necessary electrification and commissioning.

Emphasising the need for better coordination among departments, the DC said the DDR-cum-DLMC platform should be effectively utilised to discuss inter-departmental issues and resolve bottlenecks affecting the execution of government infrastructure projects. The DC called upon all departments and agencies to work in close coordination and synergy for the timely completion of projects and effective delivery of public services.

The meeting reviewed the District Development Report for July 2026, along with the progress and status of developmental works being implemented by various departments and executing agencies. (DIPRO)
