DAPORIJO, 28 Sep: A 3-day block-level induction-cum-foundation training programme for newly elected PRI members of the Daporijo Sigin-I ZP segment began here in Upper Subansiri district on Monday to familiarise them with their roles, responsibilities, powers and functions, and to strengthen grassroots-level governance and participatory development.

The training will cover a wide range of subjects, including the panchayati raj system and constitutional provisions, roles and responsibilities of elected representatives, inclusive governance, participatory planning, gram sabha, flagship schemes and convergence, health and social security programmes, financial management, transparency and accountability, social audit, RTI, grievance redressal and localisation of sustainable development goals.

A field visit to a gram panchayat and an evaluation session have also been scheduled on the concluding day.

Upper Subasniri Deputy Commissioner Tasso Gambo and ZPC Jyoti Sikom attended the inaugural programme and addressed the gathering. (DIPRO)
