DIRANG, 22 Aug: The National Research Centre on Yak (NRCY) here in West Kameng district organised a three-day 'training-cum-technology demonstration programme' for tribal farmers on backyard poultry rearing from 20-22 August.

Addressing the participants, NRCY principal scientist Dr D Medhi presented a brief on the importance of backyard poultry farming to support the farmers' livelihood and nutritional security.

NRCY Director Dr Mihir Sarkar spoke on the business aspect of rearing poultry, and explained the integrated approach of farming to achieve better profit with limited inputs.

All the participants were provided with improved variety of chicks, viz, vanaraja chicks, besides poultry feed, feeder and drinkers, along with some basic veterinary medicines like antibiotics, mineral supplements, etc.
