ITANAGAR, 19 Jul: Governor KT Parnaik emphasised that the vision of Viksit Bharat must combine technological advancement and economic growth with values such as integrity, duty, sustainability and social responsibility.
“True progress,” he said, “lies in the well-being, harmony and empowerment of every citizen, inspired by India’s enduring civilisational wisdom.”
Attending a national seminar on ‘From Tradition to Transformation: Integrating Bharatiya Itihas and Bharatiya Jnana Parampara in Modern Governance’ and Aitijya Anweshan 5128 in Guwahati (Assam) on Sunday, the governor said that India’s extraordinary civilisational journey has been guided by knowledge, innovation, ethical leadership and social harmony. He said that, from the ancient centres of learning at Takshashila and Nalanda to today’s institutions of research and innovation, India has consistently evolved while remaining rooted in its timeless values.
Welcoming the theme of the seminar and Aitijya Anweshan 5128, the governor said that it reflects the essence of India’s progress, where advancement is achieved by drawing strength and inspiration from its rich heritage.
He said that the journey from tradition to transformation mirrors India’s own civilisational journey of resilience, renewal and progress. The governor called upon the youths to carry forward the legacy of knowledge, values and wisdom inherited from previous generations.
“If every young citizen contributes positively to society,” he said, “the vision of a strong, self-reliant, prosperous and compassionate Viksit Bharat will become a reality.”
Highlighting the significance of the seminar, the governor said it provided an opportunity to reconnect with the wisdom of great thinkers and nation-builders such as Veda Vyasa, Valmiki, Chanakya, Aryabhata, Sushruta, Patanjali, Ashoka, Adi Shankaracharya, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, and Dr BR Ambedkar.
“Their contributions to governance, science, healthcare, spirituality and nation-building continue to guide society,” he said.
The governor urged the youths to become active partners in nation-building as India advances towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that transformative initiatives such as Digital India, Startup India, Skill India, Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat and the National Education Policy have empowered young Indians to dream big and contribute meaningfully to national progress.
The governor said that the youths are not only the future but also the driving force of India’s present transformation. He encouraged them to pursue excellence in education and skills, embrace innovation and entrepreneurship, and become job creators. He also called upon them to preserve India’s rich cultural heritage, promote sustainable tourism, protect the environment, and strengthen national integration through community service and social responsibility. Above all, he emphasised that discipline, integrity, ethical leadership and commitment to national values will shape India’s future.
Highlighting the pivotal role of the youths of the Northeast, the governor said that the region, as India’s gateway to Southeast Asia under the Act East Policy, offers immense opportunities for young people to strengthen economic, cultural and strategic ties with the wider world. He encouraged them to promote border area development, national security awareness, renewable energy, green technologies and digital entrepreneurship. He also urged them to preserve indigenous knowledge, traditional ecological wisdom and the rich cultural heritage of the region.
The three-day seminar, which had commenced on 17 July, was organised by the Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Samiti, Assam and Akhil Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Yojana, New Delhi. (Lok Bhavan)
