RUKSIN, 8 Aug: Tate segment beat Api segment 4-1 in the opening match of the third inter-village Ali Mongku Memorial Football Tournament at Ngorlung playground here in East Siang district on Saturday.

Ruksin-I ZPM Miti Dai Paron, who declared the tournament open, assured the organisers that she would discuss the promotion of the tournament with local MLA Ninong Ering.

The ZPM urged the organisers to continue their efforts towards physical and mental development of the local youths.

Organising committee adviser Devish Panyang highlighted late Ali Mongku's contribution towards development of sports in the area.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the winning team and the runner-up, along with trophies.

Six teams are participating in the inter-village tournament, organised by Siisang Angong Sirum.

The tournament has been sponsored by Tomas Mongku and his family.

Ruksin Forest Range Officer Opang Jamoh, public leaders Tonggeng Panyang and Ajem Tarang, Adi folk artist Takir Paron, Pasighat BEEO Okom J Panyang and Ngorlung-Ralung unit Boring Olung president Jiten Taying attended the opening ceremony.
