ITANAGAR, 28 Jun: A team from the Arunachal Pradesh Birding Club (APBC), in collaboration with the Hapoli Forest Division in Lower Subansiri district, carried out the first bird count in Tali, Kra Daadi district, from 22 to 25 June.
The survey was initiated by the Arunachal Pradesh Ecotourism Development Board and organised by the Tali administration and the panchayati leaders of Tali and Nyorig circle.
A total of 74 bird species were recorded during the survey across different community forest areas and diverse elevations, ranging from 800 metres to 2,000 metres above sea level. Notably, this marks the first ever documented bird checklist for the Tali region, with all observations uploaded to the eBird India portal, making the data publicly available for the first time.
Some of the significant bird records from different elevations include:
Tali-Tamen road (1,300 m): Spot-throated babbler, gray-throated babbler, and black eagle.
Dotte-Picha road (800 m): Pale-chinned flycatcher, pin-tailed green pigeon, and wedge-tailed green pigeon.
Sarpek Ugo Pass, Tali-Pipsorang road: White-tailed robin, chestnut-breasted partridge, and chestnut-crowned warbler.
Tali-Pija road (around 1,000 m): Himalayan cutia, beautiful nuthatch, black-winged cuckooshrike, rufous-faced warbler, and pale-blue flycatcher.
The survey highlights the rich avian diversity of the Tali region and provides an important baseline for future biodiversity research, bird monitoring, and ecotourism development in Kra Daadi district, according to a release.
