DAPORIJO, 12 Aug: The district administration, along with other stakeholders, inspected the ongoing construction of a bridge over the Subansiri River connecting Lida village and Sikarijo on Wednesday and took stock of the progress of the project.

Deputy commissioner Tasso Gambo, superintendent of police Pawan Kumar Yadav, and president of the Tagin Cultural Society (TCS) Larji Rigia visited the construction site at Sikarijo and reviewed the ongoing work.

Speaking to the media, TCS president Larji Rigia said several members of the public and social media users had raised concerns over the delay in completion of the bridge. Taking cognizance of the issue, the team visited the site to assess the progress of the construction work.

Rigia said around 90 per cent of the construction work has been completed and expressed confidence that the bridge would be completed by mid-October this year and made ready for traffic movement.

He appealed to the public and commuters to remain calm and patient for the next two and a half months and allow the construction work to be completed peacefully without any public disturbance.

"Let the remaining work be completed peacefully. We request the public to remain calm and patient for at least another two and a half months," Rigia said.

Deputy commissioner Tasso Gambo said the district administration has been regularly visiting the project site to monitor the progress of construction and inspect the quality of the work.

Superintendent of police Pawan Kumar Yadav said there is currently no law-and-order issue related to the project. He assured that the police are ready round the clock to extend necessary assistance to the project team and facilitate the smooth execution of the work.

Meanwhile, the manager of the construction company said the remaining work would be completed and the bridge made ready for traffic movement in October 2026.
