ITANAGAR, 8 Sep: The Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science & Technology (APSCS&T) launched a five-day 'Advanced SolidWorks CAD software training programme' at the reverse engineering lab of the Centre of Excellence for Science, Technology, Innovation and Research (CoESTIR) here on 7 September.

Running through to 11 September, the workshop is designed to bolster local technical expertise and bridge the gap between academic learning and industry-grade engineering practices.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by APSCS&T Chairman Dr Tage Taki, who highlighted the rapid evolution of modern design technology, and urged the participants to harness these advanced capabilities to drive regional innovation and economic growth.

APSCS&T Director CD Mungyak also spoke.

During the inaugural event, the critical contributions of Prof Arnab Bandopadhyay and Prof Sandeep Singh from the NERIST were highlighted, specifically acknowledging their pivotal roles in establishing the CoESTIR and shaping the technological roadmap of the council.

In their remarks, the two professors acknowledged the dedicated contributions of Science Centre Curator Vivek Kumar.

The hands-on training has drawn participants from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jote, Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic (RGGP) Itanagar, and technical staff of the department.

Over the five-day course, the attendees will undergo a comprehensive curriculum, spanning graphical user interface (GUI) optimisation, complex part design, advanced surface creation, multibody modelling, and reverse-engineering scanned STL mesh models.

The technical sessions are being led by industry and academic expert Umesh Melkani, research scholar at IIT Guwahati, and Alok Singh Negi, founder of Himalayer Additive Creations Pvt Ltd.
