This is with reference to yesterday’s letter published in the Readers’ Forum of The Arunachal Times.

It has been observed that various groups of aspirants, including candidates for the TGT and assistant professor recruitments, have been submitting representations to the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) over different grievances. The commission has shown commendable responsiveness in addressing genuine concerns, and we sincerely appreciate its aspirant-friendly and transparent approach.

However, we would like to respectfully appeal to the APPSC to remain firm on its notified criteria, particularly the shortlisting procedure based on the 1:3 ratio under UGC Regulations, 2018 (Appendix II, Table 3B) for the assistant professor examination. Any departure from the already notified procedure at this stage may set an unhealthy precedent, encouraging repeated demands whenever the commission’s decisions do not favour a particular group. As the popular saying in Arunachal goes, ‘APPSC mandir ka ghanti ban jayega, jise har koi bajane lagega’, meaning that the commission may become vulnerable to pressure from every quarter. Such a situation would undermine the institution’s credibility, weaken public confidence in its decisions, and discourage talented young people from pursuing careers in higher education.

We also earnestly request the APPSC to publish a tentative schedule for the assistant professor interviews. Many candidates are simultaneously preparing for the forthcoming civil services (APPSCCE) and other competitive examinations. The prevailing uncertainty regarding the interview schedule has placed aspirants in a difficult position, making it challenging to plan their preparation effectively.

We firmly believe that the APPSC will uphold the integrity of its earlier (original) notification and conduct the recruitment process in a fair, transparent, and consistent manner. We also hope that this humble appeal reaches the chairman’s table for kind consideration.
