BOLENG, 9 Oct: An aw areness camp on the new labour codes and child labour was organised at the GREF camp here in Siang district on Friday to sensitise labourers and other stakeholders to the labour laws, workers' rights, child labour prevention, legal remedies, and social security benefits.

The sessions covered awareness on the new labour codes, legal provisions relating to child labour and its prevention, legal rights and remedies available to workers, and insurance and social security benefits.

The resource persons for the camp included DL&EO (i/c) Niyang Pertin, Boleng CO Kali Mara, Registering Officer Kido Bagra, District Child Protection Unit LPO Tani Tamut, SBI Boleng branch representative Tabok Tamin, and APTUF Siang district unit president Martin Passar.

The camp emphasised the need for greater awareness among workers and stakeholders regarding their statutory rights, access to welfare schemes, and available grievance redressal mechanisms. Informative brochures were distributed among the participants, and application forms for the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana were made available to facilitate awareness and enrolment in these social security schemes.

An interactive session provided an opportunity for the participants to raise queries and seek clarification on issues concerning labour welfare and the implementation of relevant provisions. (DIPRO)
