PASIGHAT, 13 Oct: The Bogong Banggo Yameng Kebang (BBYK) on Tuesday submitted a 5-point memorandum to the director in-charge of North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Folk Medicine Research (NEIAFMR), Pasighat, seeking immediate action on recruitment procedures, appointments and employment-related concerns at the institute.

In the memorandum, BBYK urged the institute to conduct all forthcoming recruitment interviews for Groups A, B and C at Pasighat and ensure that the interview notices are also sent to the Arunachal Pradesh State Employment Exchange for wider publicity.

The organization also called for appointment of a permanent director and a permanent administrative-grade officer at the institute from among eligible local candidates.

It further demanded the cancellation of the recent appointment orders of the zoologist and the vice-principal in-charge, alleging that the appointments raised concerns over nepotism and overlooked the capabilities of local people.

Another key demand was the formulation of a clear policy to safeguard the employment terms and tenure of local staff and retain their services until they attain the age of 60 years.

The BBYK also sought a plan for the permanent absorption of eligible local contractual employees into Group C posts.

According to the memorandum, BBYK had earlier submitted a representation, requesting 80 per cent reservation for Group A jobs and complete reservation for Group B and C jobs for the people of Bogong Banggo, citing the community's role as the land donor for the institute. The organization claimed that no action had been initiated on its earlier demands.

The organization threatened to launch democratic movement and even an indefinite lockdown of the institution, if its demands are not responded or fulfilled within 10 days.

Copies of the memorandum were also forwarded to the union minister of state (independent charge) of the ministry of AYUSH, the secretary of the ministry of AYUSH, the chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, both members of parliament representing Arunachal Pradesh's eastern and western constituencies, and the MLA representing the 38th Pasighat East Assembly Constituency.
