TAWANG, 11 Jun: A five-day capacity building programme for teachers from pre-primary to Class 2 commenced at the Government Town Secondary School here on Thursday.
The programme is being organised by the Samagra Shiksha (ISSE) under the NIPUN Bharat initiative of the Tawang Education Department, with the objective of strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy skills among young learners.
The inaugural session was attended by Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo, who felicitated principals and headmasters of higher secondary and secondary schools from across the district for their outstanding performance in the recently declared CBSE examinations.
Addressing the gathering, the deputy commissioner emphasised the vital role of teachers in shaping the future of society. She encouraged the participants to actively exchange experiences, share best practices, and collectively deliberate on challenges in the education sector.
Highlighting the importance of collaborative learning, she noted that such interactions would contribute significantly to the continued growth and development of the district’s education system.
She further urged teachers to devote time to meaningful engagement with students beyond academics, and to instil values such as civic responsibility, discipline, and social awareness among the younger generation.
Deputy Director of School Education Hridar Phuntsok expressed confidence that the training would equip the teachers with innovative pedagogical approaches and practical strategies to enhance classroom teaching. He encouraged the participants to effectively implement the methodologies and learning techniques introduced during the programme to improve learning outcomes in schools.
In a gesture of support towards strengthening educational infrastructure, Adhyayan Foundation, a partner NGO of the Education Department, distributed essential office stationery and water filters to selected government schools in the district.
The training programme has brought together teachers from government and government-aided schools across Tawang district. Over the next five days, the participants will engage in intensive sessions designed to enhance their professional competencies, and to strengthen the implementation of the NIPUN Bharat mission at the grassroots level.(DIPRO)
