TAWANG, 24 Jul: Tawang Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo directed all heads of departments (HoDs) and field-level officials to remain stationed at their respective headquarters, stressing that their availability and accountability are crucial for effective implementation of government schemes and programmes.
Reviewing the progress of the ongoing developmental works in the district, the DC instructed all departments to include photographs of both ongoing works and completed milestones in their future presentations.
“From the next DLMC meeting, every department must present comparative photographs showing the status of projects during the previous review and their current stage of execution to facilitate objective assessment of progress,” the DC said. She said that monthly review meetings serve little purpose if there is no visible physical progress on the ground.
Highlighting the importance of sustainable development, the DC enquired whether plastic waste is being utilised in road metalling works wherever feasible and encouraged work departments to explore environmentally sustainable construction practices.
Expressing concern over delays in project execution, she instructed all executive engineers to issue notices to contractors responsible for slow progress and take appropriate measures to ensure timely completion of works.
She also stressed the need to accelerate the implementation of projects under the Vibrant Villages Programme, considering their strategic importance for border area development.
The DC further encouraged departments to proactively raise issues and bottlenecks affecting project implementation, so that timely interventions could be made.
She directed that future DLMC presentations should be comprehensive, covering project-wise physical and financial progress, target completion dates, challenges faced, and proposed solutions.
Zilla Parishad Chairperson Leki Gombu also urged all departments to expedite ongoing developmental works while ensuring quality.
Earlier, all project implementing departments gave presentations on the progress of their ongoing developmental works.
The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to strengthen inter-departmental coordination, enhance monitoring mechanisms, and ensure timely and quality execution of developmental projects across Tawang district. (DIPRO)
