PASIGHAT, May 29: East Siang Deputy Commissioner Sonalika Jiwani reviewed the overall developmental activities, infrastructure progress, and implementation status of welfare schemes across the district during a District Development Review -cum-District Level Monitoring Committee meeting she chaired here on Friday.

The meeting was attended by the zilla parishad chairperson (ZPC), the ADCs of Pasigha, Mebo and Ruksin, administrative officers, ZPMs, HoDs, HoOs and other officials concerned.

Discussions were also held on law and order, ILP enforcement, public service delivery, transport safety,and revenue generation.

It was informed that 190 Inner Line Permits (ILPs) were issued during the month, while 73 ILP violations were detected. To strengthen ILP verification, one check gate has been established at the Oyan bypass.

The meeting also reviewed the progress of smart meter installation in the district, which has achieved 67 percent coverage so far. The DC directed the department concerned to expedite the remaining work.

The meeting also reviewed the progress of major infrastructure projects being executed in the district, including roads, convention halls, hospital upgradation works, district secretariat buildings and tourism infrastructure projects. The DC directed the departments concerned to ensure timely completion and maintain quality standards in all ongoing works.

Reviewing key welfare schemes, the meeting noted that the target under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) for East Siang district for the year 2025-26 has already achieved 180 per centcoverage. Under the NFSA and the Antyodaya Anna Yojana, the district has achieved 100 per cent coverage with a total of 48,184 beneficiaries covered.The health sector review highlighted that enrolment under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) has reached around 90 per cent coverage at family level and 73 per cent at the individual level.

Addressing the meeting, the ZPC stressed the need for better coordination and cooperation among departments with ZPMs and GPCs to ensure effective implementation of government schemes at the grassroots level.

In her concluding remarks, the DC emphasised that the benefits of welfare and development schemes must reach the poorest of the poor in a transparent and hassle-free manner. She further directed all departments concerned to ensure mandatory conduct of gram sabhas for transparency and proper beneficiary selection. (DIPRO)
