Following allegations by the Nah Welfare Society (NWS) that the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has encroached into Indian territory near Taksing in Upper Subansiri district, the Indian Army rejected the claim, stating that reports of recent PLA encroachment and the establishment of camps in Arunachal Pradesh are “incorrect and without any basis.”

The NWS claimed that the PLA is expanding its presence by occupying new and strategically important areas along the border. It further alleged that Chinese forces have gradually occupied Indian territory since the 1962 war and are now located only a few kilometres from Taksing headquarters. These claims have been dismissed by the Indian authorities.

The absence of clearly demarcated borders in certain stretches continues to complicate the situation, as perceptions of the actual Line of Control differ among stakeholders. As a result, allegations and rebuttals are likely to remain a recurring feature of the region’s security discourse.
