PASIGHAT, 4 Aug: Dr Tayek Talom has been appointed as the vice-chancellor of the Apex Professional University (APU) here in East Siang district.
During a formal ceremony, APU Chancellor Acharya Dhanwant Singh administered the oath of allegiance to Dr Talom, who officially assumed the charge on 1 August.
This appointment marks a historic milestone for the institution. In the 13-year journey of the university, Dr Talom has the distinct honour of being the first VC to hail from Arunachal Pradesh.
A distinguished academic administrator and former director of the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education, Dr Talom brings to APU decades of unparalleled experience. His extensive background encompasses higher education governance, institutional leadership, academic planning, policy implementation, and dedicated public service. His deep understanding of the regional and national educational landscape positions him uniquely to steer Apex Professional University towards its next phase of growth and academic excellence.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Talom affirmed his commitment to building a student-centric university where every learner is empowered to realise their fullest potential. He emphasised that the university’s foremost priority would be to create an academic environment that nurtures knowledge, innovation, discipline, creativity, employability, ethical leadership, and holistic personality development.
