PASIGHAT, 1 Jul: Arunachal Pradesh University (APU) celebrated its 4th Foundation Day in East Siang district on Tuesday, marking four years since its establishment on July 1, 2022.

Held under the theme “Celebrating Togetherness Through Sports and Culture,” the occasion brought together faculty, staff, and students to reflect on the university’s journey so far and the path ahead for the state’s lone university.

Addressing the gathering, Vice-Chancellor (In-Charge) Dr. Milorai Modi commended the faculty and staff for their dedication and acknowledged the role they have played in the university’s growth over the past four years.

He noted that APU, though young, has demonstrated that a university can grow with purpose when its people work with sincerity and shared commitment.

He called upon every member of the university-faculty, staff, and students alike-to see themselves as stakeholders in a long-term project, one whose benefits will be felt not just by the present generation but also by the students who will walk through APU’s gates for decades to come.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasised that no institution is built by the administration alone, and that the sustained commitment of teachers who teach well, staff who work diligently, and students who take their education seriously will define what APU becomes.

In his capacity as Director of Technical and Higher Education, he also expressed the government’s readiness to extend support to the university in its continued development.

Presenting the university’s annual report, Assistant Registrar (Establishment) Anil Nangkar informed the gathering that the past academic year had witnessed considerable progress on multiple fronts. He stated that six new departments had been added during the year, bringing the total number of active departments to eleven.

On academic performance, he noted that the university had recorded encouraging results in the May 2026 semester examinations, with a pass percentage of 84.6 percent for second-semester students and 98.1 percent for fourth-semester students.

Turning to infrastructure, he informed the gathering that Academic Block B had been completed, and new residential quarters for teaching and non-teaching staff had also been constructed.

He further announced the establishment of a Satellite Incubation Cell on campus, describing it as a step towards fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students.

In keeping with the day’s theme, the results of various sports and singing competitions held in the lead-up to the event were declared during the ceremony. The overall championship title was awarded to Team Registrar.

Among the individual competitions held on the day, the World Cup Quiz Competition was won by Otik Borang, a student of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, while the singing competition was won by Tungam Riba of the administrative staff.

Earlier, Head of the Department of Mass Communication Dr. Prem Taba set the tone for the occasion by reflecting on the significance of Foundation Day-not merely as an annual observance, but as a moment for the university community to pause, take stock of its responsibilities, and recommit itself to building an institution that genuinely serves the people and the state.

Registrar Narmi Darang, Controller of Examinations Dr. Monshi Tayeng, Dean prof. P.C. Jena, heads of various departments, faculty members, administrative officers, staff, students, and others were present on the occasion.
