PASIGHAT, 30 May: The East Siang police apprehended a drug peddler and seized suspected ganja during an operation conducted at Oyan village in East Siang district on 29 May.

Acting on credible information regarding peddling of ganja in Oyan village, the anti-drug squad, under the supervision of DSP Ayup Boko, accompanied by Executive Magistrate Dubom Apang, conducted a search operation at the residence of Totong Pegu, East Siang SP Pankaj Lamba said.

During the search, suspected ganja, weighing approximately 1.3 kgs, was seized from the possession of Opera Pegu, wife of Totong Pegu, the SP said.

Opera Pegu was apprehended and the seized item handed over to the Sille-Oyan police station for further legal action, he said.

A case has been registered under the NDPS Act at the Sille-Oyan police station, and further investigation is underway, the SP added. (DIPRO)
