LIKABALI, 20 Jun: The Lower Siang district police, in collaboration with the Women and Child Development Department, organised an inter-school futsal tournament under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan to commemorate the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

In the final matches, New Life Mission School emerged victorious in both the boys’ and girls’ categories, while DD Public School finished as runners-up.

The tournament aimed to promote a healthy and drug-free lifestyle among young people by encouraging participation in sports and fostering positive youth engagement.

The event also served as a platform to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the need for collective efforts to combat the menace.

Addressing the participants, Lower Siang SP Bomken Basar spoke about the growing menace of drug abuse and urged students to stay away from drugs and become ambassadors of a drug-free society.

He also highlighted the importance of sports in daily life and how they help build a healthy lifestyle, and foster confidence, discipline, and teamwork.
