BOMDILA, 3 Aug: The ‘Gems of India – National Creators’ initiative was launched at the  DC’s conference hall here in West  Kameng district on Monday.

The event was attended by government officials, media representatives, YouTubers, bloggers, and content creators from across the district.

Addressing the gathering, DIPRO (i/c) Lobom Tamin highlighted the objectives of the initiative and clarified various queries raised by the participants. He also provided a detailed demonstration on downloading the My WAVE OTT app, registration procedures, video uploading guidelines, file size requirements, and the thematic areas under which creators can develop and submit content.

Tamin urged the participants to spread awareness about the initiative among aspiring creators in West Kameng who could not attend the launch programme. He stated that West Kameng is “one of the richest heritage districts, not only in Arunachal Pradesh but also in the country,” and urged digital creators to showcase the district’s unique culture, traditions, tourism potential, and untold stories through creative and authentic content.

“Through dedicated videos, our creators can bring national recognition to the district while also highlighting its rich heritage and diversity,” he said.

Assistant Commissioner Pooja Sonam described the initiative as a golden opportunity for youths to showcase their talents while promoting the district through digital storytelling. She encouraged creators to explore and document the lesser-known aspects, traditions, and practices of the district that remain largely undiscovered by the wider public.

She also stressed the importance of maintaining authenticity and originality in content creation.

District Tourism Officer Tracy Thongdok highlighted various themes and subjects on which content can be created.

Among those present during the inaugural session were DDSE Dr Ribbom Basar Gamlin, government officials, media personnel, YouTubers, bloggers, and content creators from across the district.

The Gems of India is a flagship initiative of the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, aimed at identifying, encouraging, and providing a national digital platform for emerging creators from every district of the country. The initiative invites citizens, youths, and content creators to showcase their talent, culture, heritage, tourism potential, and local stories through short-form digital content.

The competition offers attractive rewards, including prizes of Rs 50,000 at the district level, Rs 2 lakh at the state level, and Rs 5 lakh at the national level, providing creators with an opportunity to gain recognition and showcase their work on a national platform. (DIPRO)
