ITANAGAR, 8 Aug: Governor KT Parnaik, after reviewing the state's law and order situation with DGP Dr SD Singh Jamwal here on Saturday, directed expediting border fence construction in Tirap, Changlang and Longding (TCL) region to check incidents of extortion and kidnapping.

The governor said that a secure environment is essential for the state's continued socioeconomic development and for realising the vision of a 'Viksit Arunachal'.

During the meeting, they discussed the prevailing security environment, crime prevention measures, public safety, disaster preparedness, and the overall readiness of the state police to address emerging challenges.

Parnaik shared a 'Suraksha' app, which enables real-time security for citizens in cities, and recommended that the app be studied and implemented as convenient.

The governor further advised the DGP to ensure that police personnel remain alert, well-equipped and prepared to undertake search and rescue operations during natural disasters such as landslides, flash floods, cloudbursts and other calamities which frequently affect the hilly terrains of Arunachal Pradesh.

He emphasised the importance of maintaining quick reaction teams, improving inter-agency coordination with the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, district administrations and local communities, and conducting regular mock exercises to enhance preparedness.
