ITANAGAR, 25 Jul: Governor KT Parnaik has extended Kargil Vijay Diwas greetings to the people of the state, and paid tributes to the brave soldiers of the Indian armed forces whose extraordinary courage, unwavering patriotism and supreme sacrifice safeguarded the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation.
The governor said that Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed every year on 26 July to commemorate India’s historic victory in the 1999 Kargil War, fought over 83 arduous days on some of the world’s highest and most challenging battlefields. “Facing extreme weather, steep terrains and hostile conditions, our soldiers fought with unmatched bravery, determination and professionalism. Their victory was not merely a military triumph; it was a testament to the resilience, unity and spirit of India. The courage displayed by the Kargil heroes continues to inspire generations of Indians to place the nation above all else,” he said.
“On this momentous occasion, I join the people of Arunachal Pradesh in paying our deepest respects to the martyrs and veterans of the Kargil War. May their legacy inspire us to uphold the values of patriotism, national unity, duty and sacrifice, and strengthen our collective resolve to build a strong, secure and prosperous India,” the governor said.
