‘Reading an effective way to nurture curiosity’

ITANAGAR, 23 Jul: Governor KT Parnaik handed over a cheque for Rs 2 lakh to Pachin Colony (Naharlagun)-based Abotani Vidya Niketan (AVN) at the Lok Bhavan here on Thursday to support the strengthening and expansion of the school library.

AVN Vice Principal Yanya Karlo and ASVS state coordinator Sukumaran K received the financial assistance.

During his visit to the school on 28 June, the governor had announced the financial aid for provision of books to enrich the school’s library and promote learning.

The governor highlighted the transformative power of books in shaping young minds. He emphasised that reading is one of the most effective ways to nurture curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, and lifelong learning among children.

He said that a well-equipped library serves as a gateway to knowledge, broadens horizons, and inspires students to dream big and achieve their aspirations.

 The governor noted that, in an age dominated by digital distractions, cultivating a culture of reading among young learners has become more important than ever. He encouraged students to develop the habit of regular reading, describing books as trusted companions that enrich character, strengthen values, and open doors to new ideas and opportunities.

Commending the Arunachal Shiksha Vikas Samiti (ASVS) for its dedicated efforts in promoting quality education through the AVN, the governor appreciated the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and character building. He also lauded the students for their discipline and enthusiasm, expressing confidence that they would grow into responsible citizens and contribute meaningfully to the progress and development of the state and the nation.
