AALO, 17 May: The volleyball events of the 9th State-level Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy (U-16) began at the Siyom Army ground here in West Siang district on Sunday.
A total of 12 volleyball matches were played during the day.
Simultaneously, football competitions continued with 10 boys’ and eight girls’ league matches played throughout the day.
In the boys’ football category, Namsai got three points through a walkover against Bichom, while Lohit and Kurung Kumey played out goalless draws.
Upper Subansiri recorded an impressive 5-0 victory over Lower Dibang Valley, and Itanagar Capital defeated Pakke-Kessang 3-0. Leparada beat Tirap 5-1 and Keyi Panyor edged past Shi-Yomi 2-1.
Kamle defeated Kra Daadi 2-0, and East Kameng shared points with Upper Siang in a closely contested 2-2 draw. Changlang and Lower Siang also settled for a 1-1 draw, whereas Papum Pare secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over West Kameng.
In the girls’ football, Lower Siang defeated East Siang 1-0, Kamle edged past Anjaw 2-1. West Siang registered a 3-0 win against Leparada, and East Kameng pipped Upper Siang 1-0. Itanagar Capital secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Lohit, while Kurung Kumey registered a convincing 6-1 win over Lower Dibang Valley. Papum Pare and Tirap played out a goalless draw, while Bichom defeated Tawang 3-0.
The boys’ volleyball matches also produced exciting performances, with Kamle defeating Siang 2-0 and Lower Siang overcoming Changlang by the same margin.
West Siang defeated Lohit 2-1 in a closely fought encounter, while Papum Pare secured a straight-set victory against Namsai. Upper Subansiri edged past Leparada 2-1, and Tirap defeated Pakke-Kessang 2-0.
In the girls’ volleyball, Bichom defeated Lower Subansiri 2-0, while Lower Siang secured a similar victory over Siang.
Kra Daadi emerged victorious against West Siang by 2-1, and Kurung Kumey defeated Kamle 2-0. Papum Pare registered a 2-0 win over Changlang, while Longding defeated Lower Dibang Valley in straight sets.
