ITANAGAR, 4 Jul: The Human Rights of Arunachal (HRA) has appealed to the governor to constitute a ‘physical and aerial survey team’ to assess the ground situation in the Taksing area of Upper Subansiri district, stating that an independent survey would help establish the facts and address public concerns.
The appeal followed contradictory public statements made by union minister Kiren Rijiju, Nah Welfare Society president Keru Chader and Padma Shri awardee Techi Gubin regarding the situation along the India-China border in Arunachal Pradesh.
In a press statement, the organisation said that the contradictory public statements made on the issue have caused confusion among the people in the state and the rest of the country.
“As a union minister, Rijiju has a constitutional and moral responsibility to provide accurate information and safeguard the interests of the nation,” the organisation said, and called upon all to make statements responsibly and only after proper verification.
“If any national awardee is found to have deliberately misled the public, the appropriate authorities should examine the matter in accordance with the law and established procedures,” it said.
The HRA expressed full confidence in the Indian armed forces, saying that they will continue to safeguard every inch of India’s territory, including Taksing, Anini, Anjaw, and Tawang district.
The organisation also appealed to all political parties, especially the Indian National Congress, to raise the issue during the forthcoming monsoon session of the Parliament. It urged Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, and all MPs, irrespective of political affiliation, to discuss the matter in the national interest.
“Arunachal Pradesh is an integral and inseparable part of India,” the organisation said, and urged all elected representatives, including MPs and MLAs, to remain vigilant, speak on issues affecting the state’s security, and work together to protect India’s territorial integrity.
