PASIGHAT, 23 May: The East Siang district police,following a drive against Inner Line Permit (ILP) violation, caught about 161 ILP violators during the last 20 days.
As per reports, the police, following the drive, caught 62 persons from the Pasighat area during the period, while the Sille-Oyan police detained 80 persons on the charge of violating ILP rules. All the violators were later externed to neighbouring Assam after legal formalities.
In a similar manner, the police posted at the Ruksin police station recently detained 19 outsiders who were attempting to enter the district through different parts of the interstate border in Ruksin area.
On the other hand, the Siang district police, with the help of ST Bachao Andolan members, conducted a checking drive against violation of ILP in and around Pangin township on Friday and caught 109 persons who were residing in different places of the district without holding valid ILP.
The violators were brought to the Pangin police station and a non-FIR case (No 02/2026, U/S BEFR, 187) was registered in this connection.
The police later consigned the violators to the Pangin ADC, who finally ordered the police to extern all of them to Assam through the Ruksin check gate.
